Regulations/Rules of the adventure race “Gorgany Race 2010″.

1. Date, event location and format of the race
Date: 12-13 June 2010
Location: mountain range “Gorgany” in the Ukrainian Carpathians.
Start and finish points will be announced later on.
The race will be held in the following classes:
“TREK” (hiking, orienteering, trekking/mountaineering technics, rope activities)
“BIKE” (cycling, hiking, orienteering, trekking/mountaineering technics, rope activities)

2. Race programme:
Start and finish point of the race is a campsite which is located in Stara Huta village, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Teams should cover the distance of appr. 90 kilometers (for the “TREK” class) or appr. 100 + 30 kilometers (for the “BIKE” class) within a certain time limit and, according to the rules of the race, register at required checkpoints (CPs).

Race schedule

11 June 2010 (Friday)
14:00 – start of the race camping ground
19:30-21:00 – beginning of the registration (equipment and fist aid box check);

12 June 2010 (Saturday):
06:30-08:00 – registration continues (equipment and fist aid box check);
08:00 – team captains briefing/consultation with the panel of judges; announcement of the rules of the race, briefing for safety;
08:45 – “Gorgany Race 2010″ official opening;
09:00 – start of the race;

13 June 2010 (Sunday):
15.00 – finish time
15.30 – 16.00 – Announcement of the results, giving awards to the winners; official closing of the race.

3. Team requirements:
Teams of 2-4 persons may take part in the race (“TREK” or “BIKE”).
Each member of the team should be at least 18 years old.
Every team should complete and submit an application form to the organizing committee address (download the form – see “Teams”), have all necessary equipment (basic equipment list is here) and pay the entrance fee of 60 UAH per person.
The application form sent to the organizers is considered to be a confirmation that all team members are in full agreement with the conditions of the race. Every competitor should give in the receipt of his/her total agreement with the rules and conditions of the race to the organizing committee at start point and also show and provide with the copies of the following documents:
passport;
valid insurance policy.
Every participant of the race takes personal responsibility for his/her level of health, accordance of his/her acts with the situations during the race, consequences of safety technics violation, as well as for quality of personal and team tourist/life-saving equipment.

4. Results of the race and award procedure:
The winner is considered the team that has passed all CPs within the shortest period of time. In case none of the teams fulfills this task, the winner is announced the team with the biggest number of CPs passed. In cases there are several such teams, the team time as well as its number of members are taken into account.
Objections to the results are accepted from the team captain no later than the hour after the finish time.
Teams that have taken 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in any of the classes, are awarded with diplomas and valuable trophies.

5. Preliminary team application and Organizing Committee contact details
Preliminary team application form should be sent to the organizing committee no later than 29 May 2010!
For those who do this afterwards, the arrangement fee will rise to 90 UAH.
