Regulations/Rules of the adventure race “Gorgany Race 2012″.

1. Date, event location and format of the race
Date: 2-3 June 2012
Location: mountain range “Gorgany” in the Ukrainian Carpathians.
The race will be held in the following categories:
“TREK” (hiking, orienteering, trekking/mountaineering technics, rope activities)
“BIKE” (cycling, hiking, orienteering, trekking/mountaineering technics, rope activities)

2. Race programme:
The start and finish point of the race is a campsite which is located in _____________________ Rozhniativ region of Ivano Frankivsk region, Ukraine. The exact start point location will be announced a bit later. The teams should cover the distance of approximately 90 kilometers (for the “TREK” category) or approximately 130 + 30 kilometers (for the “BIKE” category) within a 30 hours time limit and, according to the rules of the race, register at required checkpoints (CPs).

Race schedule

1 June 2012 (Friday)
14:00 – start of the race camping ground
19:30-21:00 – beginning of the registration (equipment and fist aid box check);

2 June 2012 (Saturday):
06:30 – a map with the marked CPs is displayed.
7.00-09:15 – registration continues (equipment and fist aid box check);
09:15 – team captains briefing/consultation with the judges for “BIKE” category;
09:30 – team captains briefing/consultation with the judges for the “TREK” category;
10:30 – “Gorgany Race 2011″ official opening;
10:55 – start of the race (“BIKE” category);
11:00 – start of the race (“TREK” category).

3 June 2012 (Sunday):
17.00 – finish time
18.00-19.00 – Announcement of the results, awarding the winners; official ending of the race.

3. Team requirements:
Teams of 2-4 persons may take part in the race (“TREK” or “BIKE” categories).
Each member of the team should be at least 18 years old.
Every team should complete and submit an application form to the organizing committee address (download the form – see “Registration” page), have all mandatory equipment (basic equipment list is here) and pay the registration fee of 80 UAH per person (if paid before 14 May).
The application form of the team, sent to the organizers, is considered to be the full agreement of the participants with the race regulations. Every competitor should give in the receipt of his/her total agreement with the rules and conditions of the race to the organizing committee at a start point and also show the following documents: passport; valid insurance policy (there will be additional information about the insurance options).
Every participant of the race takes personal responsibility for his/her level of health, accordance of his/her acts with the situations during the race, consequences of safety technics violation, as well as for quality of personal and team tourist/life-saving equipment.

4. Results of the race and award procedure:
The winner is considered the team that has passed all CPs within the shortest period of time. In case none of the teams fulfills this task, the winner is announced the team with the largest number of CPs passed. In cases there are several such teams, the team times are taken into account.
Objections to the results are accepted from the team captain no later than one hour after the finish time.
Teams that have taken 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in any of the classes, are awarded with diplomas and valuable trophies.

5. Preliminary team application and Organizing Committee contact details
Please send us preliminary team application form no later than 14 May 2012. For those who do this afterwards, the registration fee will rise to 120 UAH.
